Thinking about some more explicit Profile / Evis privacy settings:

Public privacy features posted on Sat, 09 Oct 2010 by Simon Redfern

I've been thinking it would be good to be able to toggle Evis between public and private - instead of having one profile for public and one for private info. This way a profile could have mainly private discussions, but publish some Evis as press releases etc.

We could do this by introducing a new setting per Evis:
EvisViewableBy: AuthorOnly, MembersOnly, MembersAndFollowers, Public

For a Strict Profile:

Evis would default to EvisViewableBy=MembersAndFollowers

If one sets ViewableBy to Public, then anyone can read it via search and browse.
An anonymous member visiting a Profile would only see Evis that are set to Public.

Follow requests would not be affected. i.e. if someone wants to follow a strict profile, the request still has to be confirmed. All evis flow to a listener as long as ViewableBy is set to MembersAndFollowers or Public.

For a Public Profile:
Evis default to EvisViewableBy=Public

Similarly, I've been thinking about a setting for Profiles to show/not show their members (even for strict profiles).
We could do this by adding a setting called ProfileMembersViewableBy which would default to Public but could also be set to MembersOnly.

It would be good remove some evis from search and browse but not delete them i.e. archive them. So maybe we should add an EvisArchive field. Evis that are archived would go into an archive folder, not flow to listeners and not be found in search and browse.
